WB4RL 443.8250 Repeater Restored to Full Operation

August 26, 2026

The WB4RL 443.8250 repeater serving the Hartselle–Somerville, Alabama area has been returned to full and proper operation following the discovery and replacement of a failed duplexer.

Over the past week, we began noticing a severe loss of signal strength and coverage from the repeater. After troubleshooting and monitoring the system, the problem was traced to a failed duplexer, which was significantly degrading the repeater’s performance.

The repeater was taken offline this afternoon to allow the necessary repairs to be completed. The failed duplexer was removed and replaced with a new unit. During the repair, the repeater’s RF output power was also increased to further improve system performance and restore the repeater to its intended operating level.

Following the repair and testing, the WB4RL 443.8250 repeater was returned to service and is now operating normally.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while the problem was being diagnosed and repaired. We also appreciate the reports and observations from local operators that helped bring the significant loss of coverage to our attention.

The WB4RL 443.8250 repeater is back on the air and ready for normal use.
