πŸ“‘ WB4RL-10 Winlink RMS Gateway Post Office

We are excited to announce the launch of WB4RL-10, a new Winlink RMS Gateway Post Office is online now!

This new gateway enhances our local and regional emergency communications capabilities by providing a more secure and reliable connection, now fed directly through the new T-Mobile 5G network.

πŸš€ What’s New?
  • Callsign: WB4RL-10
  • Frequency: 145.0500 MHz VHF Packet
  • Mode: Packet (AX.25)
  • Connectivity: T-Mobile 5G internet backhaul via Cell
  • Services:
    • Winlink email (internet and radio delivery)
    • SMS message capability
    • Emergency and tactical messaging support
    • Connect to the post office using RMS Express and radio
🌐 Why Cell?

By utilizing cell connectivity, WB4RL-10 benefits from:

  • Greater uptime and network resilience
  • Reduced dependence on local terrestrial cable line internet infrastructure
  • Enhanced reliability during emergencies and severe weather events
  • More consistent Winlink message routing

This improvement significantly strengthens our served agencies’ ability to send and receive critical traffic when traditional systems may be compromised.

  • Last nights storm event digipeating was carried out by connecting a cellphone hotspot feed to stay on line and handle traffic around the valley as Spectrum Cable Internet failed and was offline. This shows how unreliable hardline Internet can be when we need it most. The new cell system cures this issue and we look forward to dedicated cell feeds.
πŸ“¬ Capabilities

Operators can use WB4RL-10 to:

  • Send and receive standard Winlink email
  • Deliver SMS messages via Winlink
  • Support emergency communications exercises and real-world activations
  • Maintain dependable packet connectivity on VHF

We encourage local and regional operators to program 145.0500 MHz into their packet stations and begin operation of the gateway post office system.

Stay tuned for news and information concerning the new post office system.

73,
WB4RL-10 Team
